I was out walking this morning before the sunrise.
The sky was perfectly clear and a fair number of stars could be seen even with the streetlights.
Orion was out hunting, his belt the unmistakable three stars in a row, Alnitak, Alnilam and Mintaka.
To the east, Venus was incredibly bright, so bright that I thought at first it was a jet airliner heading directly toward me, but when it was not moving at all I realized what it had to be.
Today is the September Equinox, marking the first day of Fall, and days and nights are the same in length across the globe.
In the predawn the air was so crisp, like the first bite of an organic Pink Lady apple.
There was a hush and a feeling of expectation in the air, the kind of excitement that only happens in autumn.
Welcome, Fall!
So glad to be a part of all this.
